Before burning MAY 1ST - SEPTEMBER 30th

Call the Troy Ranger Station at 295-7558, Rexford Ranger District at 296-2536 the Fortine Ranger District at 882-4451 or the Libby DNRC at 293-2711 for a burn permit. You need a new permit every year.

For current air quality restrictions call 1-800-225-6779 or check the Air Quality website at: http://deq.mt.gov/Air/airquality/burnrestrictions . Go to the map of Montana and find Lincoln County for air quality restriction information.

Open burning season begins APRIL 1 within the Libby Air Pollution Control District. The Libby Air Pollution Control District is the black rectangle on the map. Open burning closes APRIL 30.  Air Quality Permits are required for all burns within the Air Pollution Control District.  Call Lincoln County Air Quality in Libby at 283-2442.   Starting May1, open burning is closed.  Hazardous Fuels Reduction Permits may be issued.  To obtain a permit contact the LVFD (293-9271, Forest Service (293-8768 or 291-4360) or the DNRC(293-2711). 

Think before you BURN
Don’t burn when it’s windy.
Check the weather forecast for the next few days.
Insure that you have equipment and personnel to control the fire.
Dry fine fuel, like grass and pine needles burn and spread quickly.
Before you leave, put your fire out.
Caution large materials (stumps, etc.) may burn for weeks and months.
YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE AND LIABLE IF YOUR FIRE ESCAPES
